課程概述

This course provides students with the knowledge of the behavior of individuals and groups in organizations. Major theoretical positions and research findings are discussed and examined with emphasis on the implications for management practice. The specific topics regarding individual behaviors include individual differences, perception, attitudes, learning, personality, decision making, motivation and the topics regarding group and organization behaviors include leadership, group decision making, group dynamics, teamwork, organizational culture, communication, conflict management and stress management. 

課程目標
1. To master current and classic literature on organizational behavior. The student is expected to demonstrate adequate understanding of the relevant concepts, research results and different approaches in each section.
2. To develop analytic reading, thinking and presentation skills. To develop and demonstrate these skills, students shall develop an in-depth analysis of assigned cases by applying theories learned in the classes.
3. To develop team skills, students shall work on the cases in groups.
4. To develop the ability to apply abstract theories in the literature to account for or analyze everyday organizational experiences. To accomplish these objectives, students shall collect data from various information sources about the assigned case and write a formal report that analyzes its management effectiveness with the respect of related topics, such as leadership, motivation, etc. 
課程要求
Group Project: You are required to undertake a group project related to organizational behavior research. Each group, consisting of 4 to 5 students, will choose or be assigned a case, which highlights a significant issue of organizational behavior. Each case will be presented in the class before the related concepts and theories are introduced. In the presentation of the case, each group needs to 1) describe the context of the case, 2) demonstrate the problem(s) occurring in the case, and 3) propose possible solutions to the problem(s).

Examination: There will be two examinations, midterm and final, in a format of in-class, close-book. All required readings, including textbook, class lectures, and case discussions will be the scope for examination questions.
Participation: Students are strongly encouraged to participate in class discussions. Levels of participation will be evaluated based on each student’s contribution to class discussions, not just on class attendance. Students are also expected to participate in the activities designed for the class: filling out questionnaires for self-assessment, voting for possible solutions to the case problem, role-playing during the class.
